BIRDBROTHER
CASTLE GARDENS - SATURDAY 23 AUGUST - 3pm
Haunting, hypnotic songs with soaring vocal bliss for your delectation!
Birdbrother is a duo which comprises singer songwriter Philip Stapley on guitar and his musical partner Paul Beadle who has played at Glastonbury Festival, Warwick Festival, Upton Folk Festival, Newent Folk Festival, Pontardawe Festival and more, and has been a troubadour of the local folk scene for four decades with 'Whiteleaved Oak', 'Splatt' and 'Journeyman'.
While Philip’s etheric soothing tones transport the listener to distant melancholic realms,
Paul enchants with his energetic and unique performance playing flute, percussion, guitar and mandolin.
Birdbrother play all original songs of love, life and spirituality, which paint a romantic, inspiring, optimistic, thought-provoking, yet sometimes melancholic picture. Their brand of psychedelic, dream-weaving has been compared to that of Nick Drake, Donovan and John Martyn and undoubtedly has its roots in 60’s/70’s progressive, acoustic folk.
Since 2018 they have played at a variety of venues including ‘The Kitchen Garden Cafe’,
‘Narrowboat Sessions’, ‘Katie Fitzgerald’s’ and ‘Ludlow Green Fair’, The Woodman Folk Club, Brimfield Folk Club, The Next Level Folk Club, amongst others, and they will be on the acoustic stage at Beardy Folk Festival this year.
Birdbrother formed originally as a Sussex based duo in 2011 with Kris Lamba and recorded their album 'Peace to the wanderer'.
In 2015 Philip relocated to the Shropshire hills and began the next iteration alongside Paul from Stourbridge, and the Birdbrother journey continues. They have just completed their highly anticipated album ‘Counting on the Sun’.
